Dartmouth Climate Alliance partnered with Yale Blue Green, One Degree Cooler, the World Federation of UN Associations, the United Nations Association in Canada, and L’Oréal Canada in hosting an insightful Expert Roundtable during New York Climate Week 2025.
Leaders from government, business, academia, youth organizations, Indigenous communities, and the United Nations convened for this inaugural meeting of The Alliance of Generations and Sectors for Climate Action, a roundtable at UN Plaza in New York City. More than 100 participants joined in person and online.
Distinguished speakers included:
Jean Lemire, Special Envoy for Climate, Government of Québec
Rosi Kerr, Director of Sustainability, Dartmouth College
Maya Colombani, Chief Sustainability & Human Rights Officer, L’Oréal Canada
Aki Temisevä, President & CEO, UN Association in Canada
Lucas Allen, Founder & President, One Degree Cooler
Justin Langan, Indigenous Youth Leader
Aziel Philippos Goulandris, Secretary General of the World Federation of UN Associations (Moderator)
Dartmouth's Rosi Kerr represented the academic sector, emphasizing the unique responsibility and opportunity universities have in today’s climate crisis.
Higher education’s greatest contribution in this pivotal time is to connect knowledge to practice, to show up as a partner, and to consistently center the communities and voices—especially Indigenous leadership—in pursuing a more just and sustainable future, she said.
When Secretary General Goulandris suggested that the group reconvene, Rosi offered to host a follow-up meeting at Dartmouth.
Goulandris stated: “We heard today that we can do sustainability and economic development at the same time. This roundtable is the first in what we hope will be a continuing series of cross-generation and cross-sector discussions and actions.”
